Gone Fishin'... Again!

We haven't gone fishing since Greta was born. I think we've gone fishing once this summer!

This week, when I made our menu, between pizza and BBQ chicken, I listed "Successful Fishing Trip". Jeremy was happy to see that menu item!

So we headed out to Jensen's Grove... did you know they stock it with trout?!

Iris carried the worms... and her purse!

Eli and Jeremy fished

Jeremy caught the first fish... which inspired Eli to catch the second

and the third!

Eli was very excited to out-fish his dad.

Iris kept track of the worms

Greta enjoyed her first fishing trip, from the car seat

when the girls got too cold, we waited in the car for dad and brother

yummy fish for dinner!

Hike

We went on a 7.4 mile hike to Allan Lake on Tuesday.

Eli hiked the whole way, and carried his own pack.

Iris, not so much...

she broke in her new Kelty!

Dinosaur Zoo-seum

We took my dad to the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point for his birthday. (Because that is what every 50 year-old really wants)

Eli called it the dinosaur zoo-seum.

He carried the map and navigated us around the place.

He was very concerned about seeing "real" dinosaurs, until we explained that they were all dead and skeletonized.
(Or as E says, "boned-up")

This little guy was not boned-up, but he is a nice dinosaur.

We saw a stegosaurus

A triceratops

Some T-Rex

and lots and lots of other dinosaurs!

We assembled a giant stegosaurus puzzle

Here is Eli with a giant prehistoric sloth skeleton. Sloths are scary. I'm sorry, they just are.

Eli was very scared of this shark. He wouldn't get close enough for me to get a picture.

His very favorite dinosaur was this guy:

The brachiosaurus.

His face when he first saw it...

 He loves dinosaurs!

Iris... not so much.

Where'd You Get The Coconuts?

When Scott and Denise came for dinner on Sunday, Jeremy decided to open up a coconuts for the kids' entertainment.

He tried a corkscrew

and a paring knife

before resorting to man tools...

The kids all drank the juice out of the coconut with straws

and covered their ears while Jeremy smacked the thing with a cleaver

Shockingly, none of the kids liked coconut!

Can't say I blame them... I can't stand coconut!

Pretty Princess Dress

Iris loves the pretty purple princess dress she wore to Auntie April's wedding in January.

She finds it in the closet and pets it.  (Satin is fun to touch)

I'm trying not to think about my baby girl turning one year this month. :(

A Ransom Demand

My Mom is in Missouri, visiting my sister and
meeting my new nephew, Mason.

Eli got this postcard in the mail on Thursday.

(Drawn by my oh-so talented Brother-in-law, Mike)

(Tutu is Grandma)

Eli was very concerned.

"Mom, are the pirates going to kill your Mom?"

"Why did they kidnap Tutu?"

"Will they drown her?"

"Why is she in a barrel?"

"Is that a bad dog?"

I told Mike and Cheri that sending a ransom demand thru USPS is a federal offense... so is kidnapping, come to think of it!

I assured Eli that this is a joke... but I'm not sure he's convinced.

Boy loves his Tutu!
