An Open Letter to Batman

Dear Batman,

Thanks for taking care of the Joker. Dude was messed up.
Also, thanks for cleaning up your room and remembering to brush your teeth.

I miss the days when your punches said "Pow!"
Someday I will miss the days when you hugged me in
front of all your friends.

Are you getting any royalties from Batman (TM) licensing?
I owe you fifty cents for weeding in the garden.

Please don't speed in the Bat-mobile.
And don't be in a hurry to grow up.

Don't forget to take your Bat-belt (TM) with you where 'ere you go.
And please remember who you are and that your parents love you.

Love, Mom

Sit-Ups

Iris has been practicing, and she has just about figured out the high chair...

I think the high chair pad needs re-covered...

Better find some cute girly vinyl or laminated fabric.

And just for comparison. :)

More About My Clothesline

I know that my stupid clothesline is way boring, but I just love it.

And look what I (idiot) discovered!

No clothespins!

Okay, so everyone probably figured this out ages ago, but this is the first time I have had a clothesline and a baby at the SAME TIME!

I am so easy to please, huh?

Too Few Bananas

Eli loves "Manna Bread" (He can say "banana", but for some reason, this bread has a different name. I have given up on trying to understand the logic of a four year old.)

It is summer. It is currently 92 degrees, and much too hot to bake.

But... I had bananas going bad, and E was begging for some Manna bread.

My recipe calls for 3 bananas, and I only had two! What to do?

I grated up an apple.

Manna-Apple Bread

1 stick margarine
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 smashed bananas
1 grated apple
2 c. flour
1 tsp baking soda

Cream together margarine and sugar, add wet ingredients, then dry. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour (1 loaf) 40 minutes (4 mini loaves) or at 400 degrees for 20 minutes (muffins)

This was my grandmother's banana bread recipe, slightly tweaked.

It turned out sooo yummy!

Wheelin'

Iris was disappointed that she didn't get to go on a 4-wheeler ride over the holiday weekend...
So Eli made it up to her!

Salmon for the 4th

We went to Margo's cabin in Salmon for the 4th of July weekend...

Went on a loooong 4 wheeler ride

all the way into Montana!

Eli had a great time throwing rocks and pine cones into the pond...

We rode to an old forest service fire spotting station

saw a pica...

them's endangered, they are!

Guess who was super sad to have to come home?

Oh, and so Iris doesn't feel left out... :D
