Thoughtful Big Boy

Eli pushed the coffee table under the window and helped Iris climb up so they could watch the snow and the birdies together.

Finally!

My chickens have come out of their long molt!

It is so frustrating paying for eggs when I am paying to feed 16 hens! 

(Also, those store eggs are so inferior, no one in my house wants to eat them...)

Happy 1st Birthday, Iris!

Today our lovely Iris turns one.

She is such a happy girl, and we have grown to love her oh so much in the year she's been with us. 

She loves her big brother,

kisses,

walking, (just like a BIG GIRL!)

Rosie,

her baby doll,

and Mommy, most of all.

I usually get the kiddies up and fed and dressed, and Eli watches Iris while I shower. 

Today, he got hold of my camera, and went on an wildlife Iris photo safari!

Vanity

Each morning, after I comb Eli's hair, I tell him to go look in the mirror and see if he likes it.

He always looks, and says 

"I'm handsome enough!"

(He likes me to use a circle hairbrush...)

Sad Girl

Eli likes to play with my camera. When I get it back, there are the usual pictures of his foot, the cat, the wall, his sword, up his nose, etc.

The last time I got my camera back (found it on the floor of the playroom) this picture was on it.

Such a sad girl!

Magic Words

Eli saw the first Harry Potter movie the other day. Now let's add magic wands to the ever growing list of Eli props... swords, capes, hooks, etc.

He waves his stick wand around shouting magic words, like 

"ASPARAGUS!"

My Belated Valentine

Eli made this in Primary. 

Then he told me it has his picture on it, so it's his. 

False. 

The Eater

When Jeremy is on days, he gets home around 7:30. This is kind of late for Iris to have dinner, so usually I save some leftovers from the night before, and feed it to her around 6:00, and she doesn't eat with us when daddy gets home. Or she'll have a small snack.

Yesterday for "dinner", she ate about 3 ounces of steak, half a baked potato, and six, SIX!! sprigs of asparagus. 

Compared to Eli, Mr. No-thanks-I'm-full-I-ate-half-a-saltine, I am amazed at her appetite! 

When daddy got home, she ate most of my chicken and pasta! 

She must be having a growth spurt...

Big Girl, Rockin'

Iris is so proud that she can climb into my rocking chair. 

She hasn't *quite* gotten the hang of rocking though...

Eli's Big Boy Bed

So our ginormous four-year-old has been in a toddler bed for a few years now... and he's growing so fast, it was time to upgrade him. 

Of course Jeremy can't just go out and BUY a bed...

Iris loved getting in the way helping Daddy assemble it. 

We tried putting her "in jail", but she quickly escaped. 

She held his tools for him! (So helpful)

Eli took advantage of Iris' interest to get in some quality time with her baby doll (she doesn't like to share with him...)

Here is the finished bed

Big enough to lay in bed with Eli and read stories!

He loves it. 

He couldn't wait to go to sleep in it, so he practiced. 

(Yes, he DID pick out the sheets himself... how'd you guess?)

Pretty Princess Dress

Iris loves the pretty purple princess dress she wore to Auntie April's wedding in January. 

She finds it in the closet and pets it.  (Satin is fun to touch)

I'm trying not to think about my baby girl turning one year this month. :(

Walking

Iris is walking sooo well! 

And my camera battery charger is lost. I have a new one in the mail, so I'll post some pics soon!
