Family Sword Fight

Typical Sunday morning at the Heer house.

 Of course Iris had to get in on the action, but she's not very careful 

with the "business" end of the sword...

When the carnage was over, Mom and Iris went upstairs to take our before church naps. Eli and Daddy were going to watch "Legacy", but first they decided to not fight ever again, so they buried their weapons of war in the ground (under a Batman blanket)

Hello?

Iris loves to talk on the phone.

The "phone" can be my phone, the camera, a chalkboard eraser, or pretty much anything the right size and shape.

("talking" on a box of .22 shells)

Sometimes she pushes enough buttons to actually call someone. 

(Sorry Auntie Jan :)  )

Iris' Favorite Book

This is currently Iris' favorite book. 

Sometimes she reads it to herself. 

she looks at this page without comment...

but when she gets here, she points to the big smelly pig and says, "Mama! Mama!"

Dinosaur Zoo-seum

We took my dad to the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point for his birthday. (Because that is what every 50 year-old really wants)

Eli called it the dinosaur zoo-seum.

He carried the map and navigated us around the place.

He was very concerned about seeing "real" dinosaurs, until we explained that they were all dead and skeletonized. 

(Or as E says, "boned-up") 

This little guy was not boned-up, but he is a nice dinosaur.

We saw a stegosaurus

A triceratops

Some T-Rex

and lots and lots of other dinosaurs!

We assembled a giant stegosaurus puzzle

Here is Eli with a giant prehistoric sloth skeleton. Sloths are scary. I'm sorry, they just are. 

Eli was very scared of this shark. He wouldn't get close enough for me to get a picture.

His very favorite dinosaur was this guy:

The brachiosaurus.

Conference

Eli was very very excited about the new temple in Meridian, Idaho

(it's far away, but still in Idaho!)

So he designed the new temple.

Invention

Eli has made a super long arm. 

It is good for very high fives, and for changing lightbulbs.

Magic Words

Eli saw the first Harry Potter movie the other day. Now let's add magic wands to the ever growing list of Eli props... swords, capes, hooks, etc.

He waves his stick wand around shouting magic words, like 

"ASPARAGUS!"

Eli is slightly obsessed with trains lately. 

This is how he takes Iris for a train ride. 

Fortunately she loves it.

Iris' Manger

Brother made Iris a manger.

He sticks her in the box, and sings,

"Away in a manger, no crib for a baby, 

ASLEEEEEP! (asleep) ASLEEEEEP! (asleep)...

My Sweet Little Sheep ~ and other Christmas happenings

Last night was our ward Christmas party. 

Eli was a sheep in the Nativity play. 

(eating his dinner)

 (uh... is this mutton!?)

(waiting oh so patiently for the play to start)

When Eli is sixteen wanting to borrow my car, I will of course have to say "no", because I will always remember him as a sweet little sheep. 

Iris ate a carrot!

Curious George Scares Some Kids

Curious George came to Preschool Story Time at our Library yesterday. 

My kids have a deep distrust of people in costumes. Weird.
