More Water

Brother, in that super-annoying "I-can-do-it-myself" phase, has decided he's done having Mom or Dad wash his hair.

So big!

It was a fun day!

Top Secret

I am pleased to report that I am now a member of a Secret Society. It will not remain secret long, because I cannot keep a secret. (Keep that in mind before you tell me any of your secrets.)

It is the I-Have-A-Daughter-Named-After-A-Pretty-Flower Club. There is only one rule to join. You have decorate your daughter like her namesake flower. I was in the mood to embellish some onesies anyhow...

And the best part is, I have 2 more to do!
I have also decided to put ruffles on these bums.

Wheeee!

Update: I shared this on Crap I've Made's flickr group... under The Paisley Cupcake, cause I'm sharing it there also... and... I'm FEATURED

Hooray!!!

We Moved!

The toys!

Auntie Rhienne moved out last month, and we had a big empty room that we had fixed up for her.

What else to do with a purple room but make it the toyroom?

It is a total chaotic mess, but Jeremy will build some shelves, and that should help.

Eli and Iris' room is MUCH less crowded, and I don't have to worry about tripping over a firetruck on my way to change a diaper in the middle of the night.

Coming soon, order out of chaos!

Happy day!

Broccoli Battle

Here are all the excuses I've heard from Eli this evening as to why he cannot eat broccoli:
  1. It's yucky
  2. It's ugly
  3. It's spicy
  4. Broccoli "hurts my feelings"
  5. It's green. "I don't eat green things"
So now we are at an impasse. I have told Mr. Eli he cannot do anything tonight until he finishes one piece of broccoli.

He has had the same piece of broccoli in his mouth for the last hour, and I am having to keep him with me while I do dishes, fold laundry, clean the bathroom, and now blog. (Otherwise he'll spit it out, don't you see...)

This should be an interesting evening... I guess I forgot that Eli is as stubborn as I am.

(Can you see the broccoli bulge in his cheek?)

Sacrilege by a Child

Eli and I made cookies today.

Eli often asks me if Jesus makes spiders, water, airplanes, grass, whatever, which I like, because we always have a good talk about his question.

Today he asked me if Jesus made cookies.

I don't know about you, but immediately a picture of Jesus in an apron baking cookies popped into my head. And I laughed until I cried.

The cookies were very good. (So E said. I'm still off sugar.)

Birthday Party

Saturday was Eli & Iris' cousin Scotty's 2nd birthday party.

It was a little chilly, so Iris wore a sweater that Tutu made. I think she looks like a baby Jawa.

Eli had a great time in the bouncy toy. (There's the birthday boy in front)

Uncle Scott juggled (the dog liked the juggling best)

There were atv rides.... yes you DO see 5 kids on a 4-wheeler....

I've been telling Eli for the last 4 weeks or so that we had to wait to have his birthday until after Scotty's birthday, of course now he asks twice a day if it's his birthday yet...
I'm not in such a hurry for him to grow up.

Mother's Day

After my Mother's Day All Bran in bed, it was time for church!

Today my baby boy sang in Sacrament Meeting with the rest of his Sunbeam class.

I used to roll my eyes at my Mom for crying when we sang on Mother's Day...

I cried. A bunch. Of course, since this is Eli, I was crying with mirth.

He was so proud to go up front with the rest of the Primary, and since he is a little Sunbeam, he was right in the front. Right in front of the stairs. He did not sing a note of the four songs sung, instead he gripped the hand rails and swung his legs back and forth like a gymnast. He swung the entire time, and when they were done singing and wanted to go back to their parents, they were blocked by the littlest Sunbeam. The Primary president picked him up and moved him out of the way.

And that is my big boy.

Happy Mother's Day!

Hats

I decided to make Iris a little hat. There is a possibility that she will be fair-skinned like me, and I thought a hat would be a good idea. Plus, what fun is it to have a little girl if you can't sew for her? I measured the circumference of her head, and worked out a pattern. I had a piece of red linen gathering dust in my craft room, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Eli, in his very first display of jealousy since the beginning of the new baby saga, (and I mean VERY first, I'm so proud of him for that!) said he wanted the hat to be for him, not for Iris. I promised when I finished hers, I'd make one for him.

He wanted a red hat, and I had plenty of linen left over, and since Iris' hat turned out really girly, (as planned) I thought it would be fun to make a newsboy cap for Mr. E.

I found a pattern here and here's how it ended up.

It's Not Easy Being Super

Eli just makes it look so effortless...

Huzzah!

This is the pretty little cradle we bought for Eli when he was still a fetus.

E hated it. He slept in his swing. I think he spent 4 minutes in the cradle. (Here is the photo evidence)

We used it as a laundry basket for a while, then packed it up, put it away, and said to ourselves, "Our next baby will surely love it, Eli is just a freak!"

Iris hates it. She sleeps in her bouncy chair. We've tried to get Iris to nap/lie down/not scream in the cradle, at least once a day for her nearly 11 weeks of life...

and finally...

last night she slept through the night in the cradle!

Huzzah!

New Baby Cousin

Here are Iris Anna and Anna Elaine.

I'm pretty sure Grandma Anna doesn't mind having two grand-babies named after her!

Sorry the pic is blurry - this is from my phone :P

Iris was staring at Anna, she wouldn't look away. Think she recognized her?

Eli was in the waiting room watching The Big Bang Theory. He's tired of babies and he says he has enough cousins.

Eli v. Food

We have watched "Man v. Food" a few times on the Travel Channel. Eli really likes it. Every time the guy tastes food, he dramatically rolls his eyes, and says something to the effect of "this is the best thing I've ever tasted, ever... blah blah..."(which of course he has to do, or they'd kick him out of their kitchen!) Eli has never been a big eater, and so I'm encouraged to see him imitate that. Now anytime he eats or drinks something (even water) he says "That's SO good!"

It really makes me feel good about my cooking. :D

Nap Time

Eli has stopped taking regular naps. He argues that he is too big to nap, and since he can make it all day without getting super cranky (most of the time) I let him go. Every once in a while though, he just crashes.

Can you see how hard he was playing? Sheesh!
