Olive Oil

Do you use one of these?

Do you know what happens if you fill it to
the very brim and then shove the lid on?

This.

Eli was so impressed.

Bike Ride

This past week while Jeremy was on nights, Eli, Iris and I headed over to the lake each evening to walk ride bikes, and uh... stroll in a stroller.

Eli was much to distracted to just ride his bike.

He petted a soft plant

climbed a tree

posed with the sunset

and rode his bike really, really fast!

In Which We Harvest Something Besides Lettuce

I am just a bit disappointed in our garden this year.

We had a frost on June 18th (yes - the 18th of JUNE!) that killed all of my zucchini, most of my squashes and cukes, and seriously stunted everything else. It's growing, but slooooowly... and it is the middle of August!

But we got a few cute little bell peppers.

(Held by a cute little lady)

I made stuffed peppers. Stuffed with ground turkey and chopped zucchini. (Thank you Susan for the zucchini!)

Yum!

Happy Anniversary, Jeremy!

Jeremy and I have been married 6 years today!

I love you honey!

For our anniversary, we are going to go to a movie WITHOUT children, and hold hands. We might even make out... just like when we were in high school! Can't wait!

(p.s. I know this is a pic of my family, but I can't find our wedding pics! Eeeek! No worries, I'll find them!)

Summer Showers

Different shower, different baby...

Same Momma!

Silly

"Hey Mom?"

"Hey what?"

"You know what would be silly?"

"A banana on my head!"

"You are correct, E..."

:o)

Playing With Food

I bought Iris a butternut squash. She loved it. Weirdly. It was her favorite toy.

Yesterday I cut it in half, baked and pureed it to make baby food.

She loves it.

I'm afraid to tell her I cooked her squash friend...

Hogle Zoo

We went on a little road trip and went to Utah's Hogle Zoo with my sister April and my Dad.

Eli Batman had a blast.

Iris was impressed by leaves and butterflies. A hippo stampede wouldn't have drawn her attention.

Eli navigated

He was extremely impressed with the giraffes.

The rhino, not so much.

The orangutan with his name, downright mean!

Here is my Dad with an elephants rear end...

Eli loved the gorilla

and the playground

the carousel

and the train

All said, we had fun, and Eli has gotten over his
 irrational fear of the zoo!

Feeding Fish

Recently we went to a local pond to feed worms to fish.

A few of the less intelligent fish got stuck on our fish-feeding hooks. Silly fish! We took them off and tossed them back.

Eli did most of the worm wrangling

but he did manage to snag this ugly guy.

"Look Mom! This fish has a mustache!"

Iris helped Daddy

and hung out

I caught fed this monster

We'll be at it again soon... as soon as Eli digs some more worms!

Baby Pudding

Iris has tried (in no particular order... okay, alphabetically)

Applesauce
Bananas
Beets
Carrots
Green Beans
Peas
Pears
Rice Cereal
Sweet Potatoes

She has yet to find a vegetable (or fruit) that she won't eat.

Eli, who as a baby would eat squash and sweet potatoes, and then only in limited quantities, has been trying out her baby food.
He still loves sweet potatoes. He calls it "baby pudding". I may start making him mashed sweet potatoes, since it's such a challenge getting him to eat veggies!

(Beets & rice cereal. mmMMmmmm!)

What Did I Say?

I very recently found out that a friend of ours is unable to have
more kids... something I totally did not know.

I have been wracking my brain to think if there has been a conversation where I may have said something insensitive
to her unintentionally...

Kind of stressing over this.

I am completely the queen of foot-in-mouth, and I remember how hurtful it was when we were having conception and miscarriage problems, and rude family members asked,
"When are you guys having another baby?" :P

When I was 2 1/2 weeks overdue with Iris, and one day in
church I got six "Are you STILL pregnants" at church in
under 5 minutes, I swore up and down that I would NEVER ask a
pregnant woman that question. Ever.
And since then, I have caught my self almost saying it.

Crazy.

Gotta watch my mouth!

So Much Energy...

I don't know where he gets it, but after a day like this, I'm pooped!

Yesterday was Jeremy's work party.

Eli had hot dogs,

played in the bouncy castle

Rode the train...

a bunch...

Tried cotton candy for the first time, and got his face painted

Attempted the bungee run

And Batmanned (yes that is a verb) everybody in sight.

I'm sure at work, everyone will be asking each other,
"Who was that masked kid anyway?"

Time for a nap!
